Track and Field teams had another good night at the Division 2 Sectional
Track Meet in sunny, breezy Boscobel last night. It was a very tough
Sectional, with some of our times actually being faster than qualifying
times for some Division 1 Sectionals.
The following individuals and teams qualified for the State Track and Field Meet to be held next Friday and Saturday at UW-LaCrosse:
200 Meter Dash - Ross Thompson
300 Meter Hurdles - Ellie Luke
4x400 Meter Relay (girls) - Abby Peterson, Andrea Thomas, Makala Teske, Mariah Teske
4x800 Meter Relay (girls) - Andrea Thomas, Megan Thomas, Abby Peterson, Taylor Miller
4x200 Meter Relay (girls) - Abby Peterson, Mariah Teske, Makala Teske, Andrea Thomas
800 Meter Run - Taylor Miller
300 Meter Hurdles - Ellie Luke
4x400 Meter Relay (girls) - Abby Peterson, Andrea Thomas, Makala Teske, Mariah Teske
4x800 Meter Relay (girls) - Andrea Thomas, Megan Thomas, Abby Peterson, Taylor Miller
4x200 Meter Relay (girls) - Abby Peterson, Mariah Teske, Makala Teske, Andrea Thomas
800 Meter Run - Taylor Miller
There may be other qualifiers depending on the results of the other Division 2 Sectionals.
Our
athletes competed very well - with a whole lot of determination,
courage, and guts. Saying that we are proud of our teams is really an
understatement and cannot describe how special this season is. Some of
our student-athletes missed qualifying by less than a second.
Ross is the first male athlete to qualify for a sprint event in many years.
Also, I think that Ellie is the first State Qualifier we have had in the 300 Meter Hurdles.
And one
more additional "fun fact:" Abby and Andrea may be the first athletes
in MHS track history to qualify for the state meet in 3
relays...especially unique because one of the relays is a distance relay
and the other two are sprint relays.
And...we had a great crowd of supporters!!"
